Since 1834
Thomas Regout was founded in 1834. The company started as a manufacturer of nails and spikes. During almost 2 centuries, Thomas Regout has developed different specialities and now finds itself in a world-wide, leading position.
Milestones
- 1834: Thomas Regout, manufacturer of nails and spikes
- 1850: Industrialisation in Maastricht is booming. Thomas Regout modernises its techniques, through machination
- The beginning of the 20th century was a period of crisis. The company had to reduce production costs and expanded its factories to raise higher profits
- During WWI the company was, surprisingly, highly profitable. The Dutch shoe industry was completely dependant on national production, because the German lath production was omitted
- 1920 – 1930: General economical conditions improved. For Thomas Regout international business relationships grew and strengthened
- 1930’s: Like most companies; Thomas Regout couldn’t escape the economical crisis either. But thanks to technical development and governmental measures, by 1940 business had improved
- 1939: Mr. Van Eyseren starts a new era for Thomas Regout
- In 1941: the first production of curtain rail and accessories After the war the profile department, was the best running department of the entire company
- During the 50’s Thomas Regout developed a derivative of these products, the telescopic slide. In the 60’s spikes and nails became less important and in April 1971 the last spikes were produced
- 1999: Take-over by the American concern Compx
- 2005: Thomas Regout back into Dutch hands
- 2008: Also an important year for Thomas Regout. The Regout Group grows by the take-over of Melamo. In June 2008 the window decoration and telescopic slides department separate into 2 different entities. The birth of Thomas Regout B.V. and Thomas Regout International B.V.
